Baton Rouge fisherman Randy Pipes couldn't wait to pilot
his boat "Pipe Dream'' into the bluewater off the Louisiana
coast this month, and he and his party were richly rewarded
last week with this 105-pound wahoo. Patrick Kelleher,
left, battled the giant, which should find a spot in the
State Top 10 Fish Records. At right is Dr. Matt Holcomb
from Longview, Texas, who gaffed the monster wahoo after
about a one-hour battle. Patrick Kelleher started a battle
that lasted for over an hour. The giant doing battle was
a wahoo that weighed out at 105 pounds even. If approved
by the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association's committee,
the 105-pounder will go into the State Top 10 Fish Records
list in ninth place. Long-time charter skipper Myron Fischer
holds the state record, a 1391/4, caught in April 1976.
